Our founder, Lewis Hendler, also co-founded scunci International, the world's best known hair accessory brand. Lewis saw an opportunity in a fashion approach to basic hair accessories that was not being met by the established brands. So successful was this idea, that scunci rose to become the number one hair accessory company in the world.

Lewis saw a similar opportunity in skin care when he couldn't find effective organically based solutions to his skin care needs. He began scrutinizing the labels on skin care products and was shocked to learn that many products that represent themselves as “NATURAL" or "ORGANIC" actually contain harmful ingredients including parabens, sulfates and petrochemicals like mineral oil which suffocate the skin. His research also revealed that many skin care products were mostly water (the first ingredient). Lewis came to realize that what you put on your skin matters. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and highly permeable, so much of the products you apply to your skin are ultimately absorbed into your bloodstream and body tissues. Ideally then you want to nourish your skin the same way you nourish your body.

Without good alternatives, Lewis decided to make his own skin care line. He studied the topical effects of food with a goal of complete nutrition for the skin. He used as much organics as possible without compromising on performance and without added water or unhealthy chemicals. He decided to make the line in the United States where he could maintain better quality and create jobs here at home. More than a year was spent working with formulators, doctors, chemists and certified aromatherapists pulling together science and art to achieve the recipes that would become true organics, effective organically based skin care solutions without the bad stuff.

Most skin care products are made with bases of Water (cheap), Fruit Juice (loaded with sugar), Alcohol (drying) or Petroleum (suffocates the skin) that make up the majority of their contents. We don’t. Each beautifully crafted MICHAEL TODD true organics product starts with a base of 100% Certified Organic Aloe Vera Juice. This ancient herbal remedy has been called “nature’s first aid kit” because of its anti-bacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. With more than 75 nutrients including 20 minerals, 18 amino acids and 12 vitamins, Aloe Vera hydrates, softens, soothes and nourishes the skin. To this we add thoughtfully selected organic ingredients known for their effective, results oriented skincare properties.

Take a whiff.  MICHAEL TODD true organics smell so good it’s like dessert for your face. Depending on which product you choose, the first thing you’ll notice are the delicious aromas of sweet orange, calendula, lavender or chamomile, aromatherapy ingredients which promote relaxation and wellbeing.
